In recent years, World Health Day has evolved from a purely symbolic occasion to a platform for highlighting the most important global health challenges and guiding policy priorities. The theme for 2026, “Together for Health; Stand with Science,” emphasizes the importance of collective action and evidence-based decision-making in the face of complex health threats. This editorial reviews World Health Day themes over the past decade to show how the global health discourse has moved from a focus on specific diseases to broader themes such as health equity, universal health coverage, planetary health, and the role of scientific evidence in policy and practice. The experience of the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that even advanced health systems are vulnerable when effective scientific communication, public trust, and equitable access to health resources are lacking. Over time, World Health Day themes have increasingly emphasized the interdependence of science, social solidarity, and health equity. The editorial also addresses the relevance of these global trends to the Iranian health system, emphasizing the importance of strengthening research capacities, promoting health literacy, and creating stronger links between science, policy, and society. Finally, the 2026 slogan is a reminder that sustainable improvement in population health will only be possible through social collaboration and a commitment to scientific evidence.
