Unsuccessful cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a highly stressful experience for resuscitation team members and may result in significant psychological consequences. Evidence suggests that repeated exposure to patient death, feelings of failure, and the pressure of making critical decisions can increase the risk of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), occupational burnout, anxiety, and reduced professional performance among healthcare workers. Despite its importance, the mental health of resuscitation teams following unsuccessful resuscitation remains an overlooked issue within many health systems. This letter aims to draw the attention of healthcare managers and policymakers to this challenge and highlights key supportive strategies, including post-event interventions, structured psychological support, coping-skills training, organizational culture improvement, managerial support, and further research. A systematic approach to protecting the mental health of resuscitation teams may improve staff well-being, enhance team performance, and ultimately promote patient safety and quality of care.
