Abstract

Bacterial infection following major burn injury leads to neutrophile dysfunction and neutropenia which results in serious sepsis. Administration of graolocyte-colon specific factor (G-CSF) is useful for treatment of neutropenia and decreasing the complications of severe infection following burn injuries. A 2- year old boy with major burn injury, despite administration of broad spectrum antibiotics, became neutropenic followed by serious sepsis. After administration of G-CSF, neutropenia was resolved. Finally, after surgical debridement and skin graft, the patient recovered and discharged.
