Polyps arise from the overgrowth of the nasal or sinus mucosa, which can lead to airway obstruction. Given their high prevalence and substantial impact on patients' quality of life, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of endoscopic sinus surgery on the quality of life of patients with sinonasal polyps referring to the Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) clinic of Razi Hospital, Birjand, Iran, from 2021 to 2022. This cross-sectional study included 88 patients who underwent Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS). The SNOT-22 questionnaire was completed before and after surgery. The obtained data were then analyzed using SPSS software (version 19), and the significance level was estimated at 0.05. The mean total score of the SNOT-22 questionnaire decreased significantly after surgery, compared to the time before surgery in the studied individuals, and this difference was statistically significant based on gender (P<0.05). Moreover, the frequency distribution of symptoms, such as the need to blow the nose, sneezing, post-nasal drip, thick nasal discharge, and feeling of ear fullness, as well as the quality of life-related symptoms (e.g., decreased productivity, reduced concentration, and feelings of sadness) showed a statistically significant difference before and after surgery (P<0.05). Furthermore, a multivariate linear regression analysis was utilized in this study. The overall model was significant, and among the variables entered into the model, only the preoperative score and age demonstrated a statistically significant association with the postoperative score (P=0.016). It was also indicated that FESS significantly improved the quality of life of patients.
