This infection is more common in the tropical areas with low socioeconomic levels. Extra intestinal complications such as liver abscess are fatal in children. It is very rarely reported in the neonatal period. In this report, a 25-day-old newborn suffering from amoebic dysentery is presented without known predisposing factors. The patient was successfully treated with Metronidazol. Physical examination and laboratory tests revealed no abnormal finding in later follow up and the infant had normal growth and development.
