Background and Aim: Cardiovascular diseases are the most prevalent and important cause of death all over the world, which affect the patients' quality of life. These diseases involve many problems for patients and a lot of cost for the society. The aim of the present study was to determine the quality of life and factors related to it in cardiovascular patients after heart surgery. Materials and Methods: This study was a descriptive cross-sectional one in which. 110 cardiovascular patients from Rasht Heshmat hospital randomly participated after heart surgery. The necessary data was collected through interview and SF-36 quality of life questionnaire, patients self-report, and referring to their own hospital records. The obtained data was analyzed by means of kolmogrov smirnov test, ANOVA and Duncan test, using SPSS software (V: 16) and P…………was taken as the significant level. Results: Mean age of the subjects was 57.04±9.37 yrs and their mean quality of life was 50.27±8.55. There was a statistically significant relationship between quality of life and variables such as age (P<0.001), education level (P<0.001), occupation (P=0.002), marital status (P=0.002), duration of disease (P<0.001), number of hospitalization times (P<0.001), and gender and income level. Conclusion: Quality of life following heart surgery has a relationship with factors such as education level and duration of the disease. Thus, these factors must emphatically be taken into account.
